Sanskrit
The study of Sanskrit is essential for a deeper practical understanding of Advaita Philosophy. As expressed by Śrī Śāntānanda Sarasvatī, Sanskrit has not yet been surpassed by any language in the world and that it is the original language. Sanskrit is full of spiritual significance. It is measured, refined and ordered. The sounds of the language have a special power, purity, order and unity. The grammar reflects the laws of the creation and it has the power of conveying the truth fully. The study of Sanskrit allows for appreciation of wisdom at deeper levels. As such, after about two years into the Philosophy curriculum, the study of Sanskrit is introduced. The study enables students to read and write the language and also to explore the beautiful structure of the grammar which allows the mind to come closer to understanding. Optionally, and if so desired, students may also write examinations locally offered by the Cambridge International Examination Board through the British Council. |
