Post Foundation Course

After completing the Foundation Course in Practical Philosophy, students are invited to continue with the study in further courses, exploring the relationship between philosophy and a range of subjects, a few of which are summarised below.

Happiness

"True happiness is being happy everywhere and in all circumstances."

  • The true nature of happiness.
  • How may happiness be acquired and how is it lost?
  • To be happy is to be in tune with one's own nature.
  • The relationship between happiness and law.

Love

"The life that goes out in love to all is the life that is full and rich."

  • What is the true nature of love?
  • Love in our nature and its expression through creation.
  • Love and stillness. The heart at rest.
  • The nature of love in overcoming limits. 'Love conquers all.'

Presence of Mind

"Where were you when your life was happening?"

  • To see more clearly what is true and eternal.
  • To gain greater understanding of underlying causes and to develop greater insight and foresight.
  • That which is in front of you is your teacher.
  • The present is the true being in front or near at hand. It is a gift.
  • Letting the mind remain in unity and stillness.

Freedom

"How may freedom be experienced fully and constantly?"

  • The relationship between freedom, love and truth.
  • Meeting the creation as a play.
  • Enacting the part sincerely and truthfully but without attachment.
  • Freedom of speech. The four levels of speech: superficial, with conviction, speech from the heart and speech from the self.
  • Listening to the sound of one's own voice.
