Programme

The "Shree Vishnu Sahasranaama" represents the thousand names of Vishnu and was revealed by Shree Bhishma Pitaamaha to the Paandava brothers with the assurance that if they can be repeated in the deepest reaches of consciousness, this continuous "prayer of the heart" will fill the mind with joy. It is hoped the recital of the Thousand Names will not only be an aesthetic experience, but also a practical one of filling the mind with the thought of God; for what we think of constantly, we see wherever we look. In particular we encourage the youth to participate to foster this experience and knowledge.

The recitals will take place on Sunday 24th May 2009 from 07h30 onwards at the School of Practical Philosophy, 8 Wisteria Avenue, Lenasia. The recital this year will follow a slightly different format to previous years. Each name of Lord Vishnu will be recited in Sanskrita, followed by a short meaning of the name in English and thereafter the Gujerati will be recited in a poetry form. The overall duration is also shortened. Previous recitals were highly successful with profound benefits, and the committee will be delighted and privileged to have your participation. Verse allocation details will be forwarded once confirmation is received from participating organisations and groups.
